A new hobby

So, like I don't have enough going on around here, I've taken up knitting!
I found a loom kit @ Walmart for less than $12 and it came with everything except yarn. So I've used those 40% off coupons for Michael's & JoAnn's for something other than scrapbooking purchases! LOL Thought I'd never see the day...:D
I have never knitted, sewn, crocheted...anything. But it is super easy to do! I find it very relaxing & a good thing to do while watching tv.
I made Layla a hat in a matter of hours and she was so excited...





I also made a baby cocoon for the first time using some funky yarn I got at Big Lots for $1 & finished it yesterday. It came out great except I should have used the larger loom. This one is still ok for newborn size (it's 20 in. long & very stretchy) but I think it's going to stay on Layla's doll ;-)




I'm working on another cocoon now in a gorgeous natural/oatmeal color. I really like this one particular brand of yarn (same as Layla's hat) and will be making baby hats & cocoons in 6 yummy colors. I'm hoping to be able to sell them to some of the photography gals and Mommies with new babes, possibly on Etsy. I've already had some interest from a couple ladies so that's good! :-)
I've also had requests for hats from Sam & his friend! LOL Not to mention that since I'm using the larger loom right now, Jake is knitting his own hat on the smaller one! He's doing good and works on it in the am, for awhile after school & at night before bed... he wants to finish before we leave and I think he'll make it.:-)


BUT... knitting will be taking a backseat for awhile (& scrapping too) because we (boys & I) leave on SAT. for our cruise!!! Yeah! I cannot wait! A week of bliss in the Carribbean...
So I am slowly getting our stuff together & ready to pack, plus doing the regular stuff such as cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping..blah, blah.. My mom will be coming down to stay with Layla for a week so I know she will have a great time with Hoosy though I will miss her dearly!! I've never been away from her for more than a couple days.

Oh, Russ and Jake did their annual JDRF walk on Sunday. They had a great time & of course for a good cause!

So, that's been our last week in a nutshell. I doubt I will be on to post again before we leave so it will be after Oct. 12th before I am back with lots of pics to share.
